Professor Henry Tarazona will be offering a two-day intensive course on how he is able to come to an accurate diagnosis in under 5 minutes. Learn what to look out for, how to recognize patterns, and how to read your patients better. Quick, accurate diagnosis to be able to get better results in your clinical practice.

Course Content

This is a practical workshop where students will learn all the theory and application of advance diagnostic methods. Students will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of clinical cases that will help to improve their critical thinking when it comes to diagnosis.

There will be an emphasis on learning about a range of diseases that are commonly seen in a clinical practice in Canada, including gynecological and internal medicine issues.

For this seminar students need to have a background in Chinese medicine diagnosis, and/or acupuncture. The course is intended for acupuncturist, TCM practitioners, and other practitioners that use Chinese medicine diagnostic methods. This is a hands on course where students will have the opportunity to diagnose patients in real time and be able to practice what they learn during the seminar.

Note: This is a combined practical AND theory course.

For this course, students will receive didactic material ppt files, and a handbook of advance diagnostic methods prepared by Prof. Henry Tarazona.

1. Key components of the “10 questions”

2. Main syndromes and differentiation of patterns

3. Tongue and pulse diagnosis

4. Diagnostic approach technique

5. How to choose Acupuncture points and formulas

6. Assessing and advancing diagnostic methods

Students are encouraged to bring in their own patients for case studies. Professor Henry will help assist diagnose and treat the student’s patients.

Henry has received a Bachelor's in Chinese medicine, a master's in acupuncture and tuina and, a PhD in acupuncture and tuina all from the Tianjin Traditional Chinese Medicine University in China. He spent twelve years in China studying and working in Chinese medicine. Henry was mentored by a famous Chinese doctor who acted as director at the first teaching hospital for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Tianjin. During his time in school, Henry would treat up to eighty patients a day with his mentor.

He has experience teaching in schools around the world including the Ontario College of Tradition Chinese Medicine, Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taos Acupuncture College in Chile, East Asian College in Greece and the Cantho Medical University in Vietnam.
